What Happens When You Design a Conference Space That Gives Attention Back?

An Overview of Our Show Report — Calm Tech Certified® for Spaces

By Day 3 of most conferences, afternoon attendance drops. Attendees leave for their hotel rooms between sessions and often do not return. Sponsors are paying for space in rooms that are emptying out. Programming goes under-attended. The problem is familiar to every planner.

At MPI World Education Congress 2026 in San Antonio, the Resilience Space by Hello! Destination Management became the room attendees chose over their hotel rooms.

At WEC 2026, the Calm Tech Institute and Hello! Destination Management tested a different approach. We built a multi-sensory Resilience Space inside the convention center and measured its impact using Zenus' privacy-first sentiment analytics sensors.

Here is what the data showed.

Attendees entering the space showed an average energy level of 84%, which climbed to 88% as they moved deeper into the room. That 88% falls within the Enthusiastic range.

People who found the Resilience Space chose to recharge there instead of leaving the building. By Day 3, the room was packed during afternoon breaks.

Hello! Destination Management's Resilience Space transformed a basic conference room into an engaging and relaxing environment. The first conference space to be awarded the Calm Tech Certified® for Spaces designation.

From curiosity to brand engagement

When attendees wrote about what drew them in, the top responses were curiosity. The immersive entryway and sensory cues, such as sound and scent, reached them before they could see the room. Multiple attendees noted that the space put them in "exploring mode," a state where people are open to new brands and experiences.

"I feel relaxed. It was a nice reset after talking and chatting all day."

On Day 2, when asked which senses they noticed most, smell and sound dominated the responses. Attendees described hearing bird sounds, waterfall audio, and ambient music. Several remarked on how scent reached them before any other stimulus. This report includes the full set of attendee feedback, the Zenus analytics across all three days, hourly traffic and behavior patterns, and a complete product catalog of the Calm Tech Certified devices featured in the space.
