Calm Tech Certified™ for Spaces

Introducing Thoughtful Technology for Hospitality.

When guests spend less energy sorting out a room, they can spend more time doing what they intended - relaxing, resting and restoring.

Air Quality

High C02 Levels have a significant effect on thinking, decision-making and alertness

Air is one of the most invisible interfaces. It's all around us, but we sit in a conference room for hours, the C02 buildup makes us feel sleepy. It's the same in any space. Efficient HVAC systems can make a huge difference in wellness and recovery. A 2010 study on the influence of carbon dioxide on brain activity and metabolism in humans found that increased CO2 levels cause the brain to reduce metabolism and spontaneous neural activity.

Implementation tips:

  • HVAC systems should cycle air in rooms between 4-5x per hour

  • Ensure filters are cleaning the outside air from VOCs and other compounds before introducing air into the room

  • Use natural materials and low VOC paints to reduce the number of particulate matter in the room â€‹

Controls with Raised Buttons and Dots

Your hands have eyes, too!

Touch interfaces without tactile feedback increase cognitive load and require visual attention. Calm Tech Certified™ prioritizes interfaces that can be operated through peripheral awareness and touch alone.

Implementation tips:

  • Add raised tactile elements to key buttons or interaction points

  • Incorporate textured dots on primary controls for easy identification by touch

  • Include a minimum height differential of 0.8mm for tactile elements
