We're excited to announce the Platinum Certification of Dreamie, a bedside sleep companion, marking it the first bedside device to earn recognition for successfully minimizing bedroom phone usage while respecting human attention and privacy.

According a 2023 study by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 87% of adults keep a phone in their bedroom, while over 75% of people surveyed reported they didn't get enough sleep because they stayed up past their bedtime to shop online, and 91% of respondants reported that they lost sleep from binge-watching.
A 2025 study of over 45,000 Norwegian university students found that every hour of screen time after getting into bed was correlated with an average reduction of 24 minutes of sleep. The research, published in Frontiers in Psychiatry, was based on a 2022 survey of 18- to 28-year-olds.
A one-hour increase of screen time after going to bed was also associated with 59% higher odds of having symptoms of insomnia. Researchers emphasized that the study found a correlation and did not prove that screen time directly causes insomnia, but that students with existing sleep issues might be more more likely to use screens in bed.
AASM recommends the following tips to reduce digital disruptions and achieve a better night of sleep:
Disconnect from devices at night—Turn off all electronics at least 30 minutes to an hour before your bedtime to help prepare for sleep.
Leave your phone in another room—It’s tempting to go on your phone, so keep it in a separate room at night. If you use your phone for a morning alarm, consider using an alarm clock instead.
Follow a relaxing nighttime routine—Find something you look forward to doing, like taking a warm bath or shower, reading a book or journaling to help you wind down at the end of the day.
Have a sleep schedule—Go to bed and get up at the same time on a regular basis and hold yourself to it. Don’t let scrolling stop you from getting your precious hours of sleep.
Turn off push notifications—If you must have your phone in your bedroom at night, turn off push notifications and sound to avoid distracting alerts.
Robin Moreau, partner at Calm Tech Institute, first learned about Dreamie far before launch. At long last, this seemed like a perfect nighttime device that fulfilled those

Amber Case traveled to Boston to try an early the protoype of Dreamie with Robin, and suggested a small change to the overall satifying user experience of the device. After the change was made (making it easier for sleepy people to touch the main button on screen), we awarded Dreamie our highest certification to date. It scored impressively on our 81-point rating system. We measured the device on Attention, Peripheral Attention, Durability, Light, Sound and Material design.
The screen itself has both tactile and screen-based components. We found the form factor delightful to touch, easy to use while groggy, and a screen deliberately designed to support sleep.
