Calm Tech Certified™ is the world's first standard for recognizing products which exemplify the Calm Tech Institute’s dedication to devices which work well with human attention, rather than against it. By prioritizing peripheral attention, durability, along with the use of natural/warm light, sound, and materials, these products and devices minimize stress and cognitive effort while being used.
Only products which satisfy our 81 point standard are awarded the Calm Tech Certified™ title. There are three tiers: Certified, Gold, and Platinum.

Certified Alarm Clocks
Calm Tech Institute is always looking for meaningful ways for people to leave their phones out of the bedroom for better sleep. Many people use don’t get a full night of rest because they keep the phone in the bedroom, fall asleep next to their phone, or use the only alarm clock they have available—the alarm clock on their phone,
We certified three clocks, all with different features. Mudita’s Bell and Harmony achieved top scores for their minimalist, analog feelings and high tech operation. Dreamie, with its high end audio and industrial design scored highly for a dedicated bedside device.
This category of products is one of the most important to Calm Tech Institute, because a small change in habit can lead to a meaningful difference.The cost of the clocks can more than pay for itself in terms of lost sleep regained.
Mudita Harmony 2
E Ink Alarm Clock, Platinum Certification
Mudita’s Harmony 2 is our top pick for a travel and bedroom clock. With long battery life, a noticeably pleasant alarm (a beautifully melodic tone which gently awakes ), and an E Ink display with a backlight (for when you need to check the time but don’t want blue light disrupting your circadian rhythm) it’s perfect. The battery can last about 45 days with regular use.

In Norway, we saw Dory signs used for every table at a startup event, with information about each startup easily present. When the event was over, none of the signs needed to be thrown away. The Dory Signs were able to be reused for a future event.

Boston, MA-based Bic (known for its easy-glide pens) created two clever products. The Core is an almost endlessly reusable analog notebook with digital benefits. It scored high on Calm Tech Certification for its ease of use, mix of analog and digital benefits, and its competitive cost. Rocketbook Core is exactly what Calm Technology should deliver: The best of both analog writing and digital capture without compromise.

The Mudita Kompakt, Platinum Certification ($439) is a partial smartphone running on a standard sim card. It runs a de-Googled version of Android 12 – but without an app store. (Read a review here.)
While technically a smartphone, Kompakt’s non-phone features are minimized to the essential: music player, maps, and texting. (while intentionally omitting addictive social media and endless scroll functionality.) Thus making it ideal for reducing traditional phone use.

Submit Your Product for 2026!
We are now scheduling products for certification and pre-certification in 2026, a process that typically takes between 2-3 weeks.
Some pre-certification award processes take longer than 2-3 weeks, depending on any issues with the product noticed during the review which require alteration to earn the award.
Once we’re able to award a product our Calm Tech Certified™ badge, we coordinate with the awarded company on the best time to announce certification on the social media channels and Calm Tech Institute website, along with the company’s own social media/PR channels.
